HABITATS AND HILLFORTS SPECIES IDENTIFICATION TRAINING PROJECT

In 2011 and 2012, the Habitats and Hillforts Project teamed up with RECORD to offer a series of training days focusing on species identification and recording, specific to the Sandstone Ridge area.

As the Local Record Centre covering the Habitats and Hillforts area RECORD aims to improve the biodiversity data holdings and subsequently the understanding of the effects of current management within the project area. The training days served to highlight to the Cheshire community the importance of the Sandstone Ridge and the species found there.

Whilst each event focussed on a particular theme, all additional flora and fauna encountered during the session were also recorded.  

In addition to the wildlife events generous funding from the Habitats and Hillforts project also enabled the production of a comprehensive supporting Wildlife Recording Manual.  Click here to view.

Species records have been entered into the RODIS database, RECORD’s Online Data Input System.  To view individual lists click on the ‘species list’ link attached to each event. 

In 2012 there were:

  • 10 events held;
  • 989 records madeof which there were
  • 420 fauna records and
  • 569 flora records.
