RECORD and Education

Information for Education & Community Groups

RECORD, a Charity and a Non-profit making organisation, can provide information for students of all ages and proficiencies, and for all levels of courses. It is profoundly hoped that we will be able to engage with educational organisations (i.e. schools and colleges) and with community groups later in our development - after RECORD’s initial establishment phase - in order to introduce students, and the public, to biological recording and to have them brought into formal surveys of their own parts of the county.

Museum Services

RECORD has close links with the Museum Services in both Chester (Grosvenor Museum) and Liverpool (National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside). Both museums run leading education and access services. A lot of important natural science information is associated with these museum’s extensive collections and these are accessible through curatorial staff and the museum service’s Access teams. We are working to generate close contacts with other Museums within our area (e.g. Warrington Museum.

Surveys

We wish to become involved with school grounds surveys, with management of the data generated by surveys at all levels (primary through to degree and doctorate thesis level), with suggestions for projects, with community groups (e.g. disability groups) and in any other way you feel we may be able to use the biological data we manage to assist and raise the awareness of your pupils, staff, members and/or clients.

Duke of EdinburghAward Scheme

Where possible we would be keen to assist and support, where we can, students undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

University Links and Work Placements

RECORD also has links with the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and Liverpool John Moores University, providing lectures on biodiversity, biological recording, RECORD, and use of software for recording and land management planning.

We are also very willing to consider work-placements for students from Senior Schools through Universities and have worked with a number of workplacement students in the past.

Other Groups

RECORD has had previous involvement with disability groups by providing talks, practical sessions and involvement with biodiversity recording and looks forward to further associations
