RECORD is both a Charity and a Not-For-Profit organisation collating information about species population and distribution, as well as habitat details, for the Cheshire region. We believe passionately that there is a genuine need to bring biodiversity records into one area to ensure that they are brought to bear and used in many different arenas (e.g. developmental control, land management, species and habitat management, education, wildlife site designation, green-belt control, brown-field site usage, public greenspace and local nature reserve allocation, conservation, and obviously to assist naturalists and recorders, etc.).

Many friends have, over the last years of RECORD's existence since its inception, helped us by providing furniture (desks, filing cabinets, chairs) as well as old computers and even identification books for the library - thank you deeply to one and all. Now, we also need extra monetary funds to enable us to grow and to provide wider and improved services to all those with whom we have a relationship - from the general public, through naturalists and ecologists, to Local Authorities and consultancies - we need to ensure that the information needed to underpin correct decision making is present and available.

How You Can Help:

You can help RECORD in a number of different ways:

• Ask the firm you work for if they would be prepared to provide a grant to RECORD as a Charity.
• Does the firm you work for need biodiversity data? If so, then we can help them - ask them to get in touch.
• Organise a 'do' for RECORD (e.g. a coffee morning) to bring in funds to help our sustainability.
• Promote the name of 'RECORD' wherever you can, including in schools - surely children need teaching about the wildlife which shares their environment? Perhaps the school could use our website data search and mapping facilities to show the kids what lives in their areas (it looks impressive on an Interactive Whiteboard !).
• Approach your MP and request that Local Record Centres such as RECORD are funded as an essential service out of Local Authority budgets.
• Consider donating some equipment or consumables to RECORD. Note that it would be wise to contact us on: 01244 383749, prior to sending or bringing anything in to the office as we are already replete with certain items (e.g. we no longer need any further desks).
• And lastly, but most certainly not least: Consider making a cash donation to RECORD.
