If you haven't logged in, you will notice that there is an opportunity on the RECORD website to sign-up as a ’Member’ of RECORD (See the MEMBERS LOGIN panel to the left of this window). This is mainly a way of enabling us to develop an understanding of who is using the web-site and to allow us to interact with those who are interested in biological recording in the Cheshire region.

If you have logged in, you will see a WELCOME panel with further options available to you.

Currently, some of the specialist discussion groups, which can be seen lower down on the home page, are only available to those who have signed up as members - please note that membership is open and FREE.

In the future some of the functions (or parts of the functionality) which are developed for the site will only be available to members. Indeed, some functions will only be available to specific areas of a membership (e.g. currently anybody can search our complete database online (See: Records / Data Search Facility) but only 'members' can map up the results in an online Geographical Information System (GIS)). There are certain restrictions applied to the resolution of the data supplied (e.g. non-protected species are provided at a tetrad (2km square) level and protected species at a 5km square resolution. In the future Service Level Agreement (SLA) Partners and County Recorder Partners will be able to access data at the full resolution of the data held by RECORD and to map it up at that base-line resolution). We always have to be aware that sensitive data cannot be allowed to be used for nefarious activities and that RECORD must look towards a sustainable future for both itself and for Cheshire's species and habitats.

How to Join and Sign-In

At the top of the left-hand side of the screen you will see the MEMBERS LOGIN panel which asks for "UserName" and "Password". If you are a new user of this website and would like to join to take full advanatge of all the facilities offered then click on "Signup". This will take you to a screen where you can enter your details and become a ’member’ of the RECORD web-site.

In future, to continue being able to access all the facilities of the site, you will merely need to log-in. You can do this by filling in your UserName in the box provided, your Password in the entry box labelled ’Password’ and then clicking the ’Login’ button.

Once you are logged-in, the panel will change to show entries of ’My Account’ - which will show you your original joining details and will allow you to edit them and ’Logout’. To log-out of the system merely click the ’Logout’ link in this green panel.
