  • 01st February 2007 - The Launch of RODIS - RECORD Online Data Input System

On Thursday 01st February 2007 RECORD released the first publicly accessible version of RODIS - RECORD Online Data Input System. This is an electronic means to allow records and the general public to enter their sightings of wild animals and plants online via their Internet connections at home or at work. As information is entered it is checked for formatting errors, grid-references are checked against location names, dates are checked for being in the future, grid-references are checked for the correct number of characters. Data is also checked against teh current database to ensure that duplicate records are not created.

This data is then forwarded to RECORD for inclusion within the central database and for proactive usage for developmental control, land management, and conservation.

  • 26th April 2006 - The Launch of the New RECORD Web-site:

On the morning of Wednesday 26th April 2006 RECORD launched its newly design website. A completely new layout and the beginning of some interesting new functions.

The first of these new functions is the ability to search the complete RECORD database (currently standing at over 1 million records). The records extracted by the search can then be mapped online.

For the first time ever the Cheshire region now has an interactive mapping facility whereby people can see what species have been recorded in their area and how the distribution of those recorded species has changed over time.
