RECORD Charges

RECORD is both a charity and a not-for-profit / non-profit making company. Provided below are our current levels of charging for commercial enquiries.

Please note: No charge whatsoever is made for the data itself as most of the data held is not ’owned’ by RECORD; however, we do need to recover some of the expenditure involved in collating, storing and managing the data, as well as the costs attributable to the time taken to extract, format and where required, perform any analysis on the data.

Charges:

As of 18th August 2015 our basic commercial rates for access, per site, are:

  • Single species search in 1 or 2km radius from a grid reference point - £75
  • Full species search in 1km radius from a grid reference point - £150
  • Full species search in 2km radius from a grid reference point - £225
  • Full species search in greater than 2km radius will be quoted on a individual case basis

Please note that if a site boundary or line is supplied and the radius to be searched is from this boundary or line, the increased area and time taken to digitise the area would be taken into account and charged accordingly.

The above rates are subject to change at the discretion of RECORD and will be reviewed at least on an annual basis.

Information to non-commercial, bona fide, inquirers is normally supplied free. In these instances charges are only made, and these are kept to a minimum, when significant amounts of staff time and/or resources are required.

It is intended that sponsors of RECORD will be charged for information at a lower rate up to the level of their sponsorship, and will then be charged at a medium rate up to twice their sponsorship level, and thereafter will be charged at full rate. It obviously pays to be a sponsor - please do get in touch!

We are always willing to negotiate our fees should there be extenuating circumstances but, we do need to charge for commercial usage of the data as a means of attempting to ensure the sustainability and the long-term viability of the organisation.

Please Note: RECORD is not currently VAT registered and is unlikely to be so for the foreseeable future. Therefore, VAT will NOT need to be added to the base rate charges indicated.
