RECORD Organisation and Aims

The Organisation:

RECORD (pronounced - "wreck - ord") is a non-profit making (not-for-profit) Company, Limited by Guarantee, and is also a Charity (Reg.No.: 1095859), having Directors/Trustees and a Support Group which was originally comprised of representatives from many of Cheshire’s Local Authorities, the County Council, the RSPB, Liverpool and Chester Museum Services, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Natural England and the Environment Agency. The company was set up in mid-2000 and a Manager put in post to develop the centre through its implementation / establishment phase in October of the same year. We achieved charitable status on the 6th February 2003.

RECORD’s Aim:

The main aim of the independent organisation is to provide as wide access as is possible to both species and habitat records for the Cheshire region commensurate with protecting those self-same species and habitats. This access is to inform, educate and to provide real data upon which environmentalists, ecologists and planners, and other individuals and organisations can base decisions, rather than allowing such decisions to be made upon little or incorrect information. We also aim to provide support for biological recording and for biological recorders within the Cheshire region. RECORD deals with all data for Cheshire wildlife, Cheshire biodiversity, Cheshire nature, Cheshire habitats, Cheshire wildife sites and Cheshire geology, geomorphology and geodiversity.

As a charity and a non-profit making organisation, we are URGENTLY looking for sources of funding and for volunteer helpers. If you can assist in either of these areas then please do contact us at: [email protected]. Thank you.
