RECORD - Access to Data |
At RECORD there is a presumption to provide access to biodiversity information, in the belief that information improves understanding and increases the appreciation of the local natural world. This is subject only to maintaining good relations with land-owners and not endangering Cheshire region’s habitats and species.
Information is only supplied to individuals and organisations where they recognise its copyright nature, and agree that it cannot be copied, incorporated into a database or published without the further express permission of RECORD and the owner of the data (i.e. the original recorder(s)).
We also have a requirement to abide by the maxims of the National Biodiversity Network (NBN) which state that access to data should be as wide as is possible commensurate with the recognition of the data’s copyright status and its proactive use to improve conditions for wildlife and for humans alike. As an example, this means that badger sett data would never knowingly be released to those who would use the data for inimical actions. We do have a security policy for the protection of sensitive data. We are registered under the Data Protection Act and follow its requirements.
How can we help you ?? Please e-mail your questions, queries, and requirements to RECORD at: [email protected]
By use of the Data Search and Mapping functions of this web-site it is possible to find and to see mapped out species data held within the RECORD database.
This data is reduced to 2 kilometre squares for non-protected species and to 5 kilometre squares for protected species. Should you need better resolution than this on-line facility provides or wish to use the data in a commercial context (as a consultancy or as a Local Authority) then please do get in touch with us either by telephone on: 01244 383749 ,or by e-mail to RECORD at:[email protected] .
It is intended to provide a facility similar in nature to the above search and mapping but at absolute baseline data accuracy, reflecting the resolution at which we hold the data, for Service Level Agreement (SLA) partners later in 2007.
