“Close encounters with British Wildlife”
Wednesday January 17th, 8pm, Nantwich Methodist Church Schoolrooms, Hospital Street, Nantwich. A talk by John and Margaret Sixsmith. Organised by CWT South Group
The Ups and Downs of Cheshire Birds Wednesday January 17th, 7.30pm, A talk by Professor David Norman. This will be a fascinating insight based on the substantial collection of material by over 300 recorders over the last three years and reflecting on the changes since the previous production of a breeding bird atlas for Cheshire. Orchard Workshops Sunday 21st January, Erddig Hall, Wrexham, 10:00am to 4:00pm Cheshire Landscape Trust and Erddig Hall are running workshops to help you learn all about orchards. Topics covered will include the history of fruit growing, rootstocks and their influence on tree size, tree forms, fruit tree planting, watering, pest and disease control, harvesting and storing fruit and pruning. The day will consist of a classroom session followed by a practical session on pruning in the Erddig Hall gardens and will be led by the Head Gardener at Erddig, Glyn Smith.
