LEARN ABOUT ORCHARDS

Cheshire Landscape Trust and TLG Orchards have run workshops to help people learn about fruit trees and orchards. It is hoped these will be repeated in 2007. Starting Out With Orchards Workshops

Pruning for Beginners Workshops
Sunday 22nd January and Sunday 29th January 2006

Topics covered included varieties of fruit; rootstocks and their influence on tree size; fruit tree planting; watering; pruning; organic pest and disease control; and harvesting and storing fruit.
The day consisted of a classroom session followed by a practical look at the aspects of orchard and fruit tree management in the Walled Garden orchard including the opportunity to have a go at some pruning.
 Places cost £20.
