Invasive Non-native Species

CHESHIRE REGION INNS INITIATIVE
Partners in the Cheshire region met for the first time in December 2008  to discuss how to tackle the issue of invasive non-native species in the region. A group of key partners developed the Cheshire region INNS  Initiative.

The group put together a Terms of Reference and started to categorise  the invasive non-native species  that  were found in the Cheshire region. This list was split into 6 sections as set out in the Cumbria and Norfolk pilot initiatives.

To help us understand how to tackling invasive non-native species within the region, the group put together a shorter, more concise action list.  Higher priority species, as well as species that are not very well recorded or understood were put into the action list. This should guide partners in the course of action for each of these species. Both lists are constantly being updated so information, advice and expertise are welcome. GB Non-native Species Secretariat
In 2008 a strategy was developed to meet the challenge posed by invasive non-native species in Great Britain. The GB Non-native Species Secretariat website supports the strategy by providing information about invasive non-native species, work that is being done to tackle them across Great Britain and provide tools for those working in this area.
