MERSEY BASIN CAMPAIGN ACTION PARTNERSHIPS

The Mersey Basin Campaign aims to improve river basin quality, encourage sustainable waterside regeneration and engage individuals, businesses and communities in the process. The project is delivered through two ‘Action Partnership’ as detailed below. See www.merseybasin.org.uk for more information.

What is Action Weaver Valley?
Action Weaver Valley is a working partnership of public, private & voluntary organisations, between Winsford flashes and the River Weaver’s confluence with the Mersey.

Project areas include: Heritage, Environment, Tourism, Recreation, Wildlife & Water Quality.

What can we do for you?

• Put you in contact with other groups & organisations who share your interest
• Provide help & support for practical projects such as clean ups, community river adoption schemes & environmental improvements
• Assist groups to gain funding for projects
• Provide resources to help environmental projects via the Green Action Grant Scheme. Grants are available to support projects in the Frodsham & Runcorn area. The scheme is sponsored by INEOS Chlor
  

What is Action Upper Weaver?
Action Upper Weaver is one of the Mersey Basin Campaign’s local delivery partnerships, covering the river Weaver and its catchment from its source in the Peckforton hills to the southern end of Winsford flash. The partnership is made up of representatives from the Mersey Basin Campaign, Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council, Cheshire County Council, British Waterways and the Environment Agency.

Projects
Projects range from improving waterways in or near public open spaces for recreation and wildlife value, to managing invasive species, schools projects and educational projects relating to our waterways.
